Retro runners: the short version
The retro-runner trend has held for years now because the shoes underneath it are genuinely good: 2000s running designs were built for comfort first, which is exactly what an everyday trainer needs. 2. Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 — £100
The connoisseur's pick. The Omni 9 is chunkier and more technical-looking than the ASICS pair, with layered panels, a sculpted ProGrid midsole and a proper 2000s racing vibe. 3. Nike P-6000 — £100
Nike's answer to the trend, pulled from their mid-2000s Pegasus archive. Layered silver-and-white panelling, a snug retro last, and the Swoosh doing its thing.
