Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 trainer

The runner's runner

Ask sneaker people which brand does the most underrated retros and Saucony comes up again and again. The ProGrid Omni 9 is a big part of why. Originally released in the early 2010s at the tail end of the ProGrid era, it's a stability trainer with proper technical design: layered mesh and synthetic panels, a sculpted midsole, and the grid-based cushioning system Saucony built its running reputation on.

Its reissue rode the same wave that made the GEL-1130 and the P-6000 huge — but Saucony produces quieter numbers, which keeps it feeling special on foot.

What ProGrid means

ProGrid was Saucony's cushioning platform of the era: a grid-like structure in the heel that absorbed impact and stabilised the footstrike, layered with responsive foam. In the Omni 9 you can see the tech doing its job in the midsole's ridged styling. As a lifestyle shoe it simply translates to a comfortable, supportive ride with a bit more structure than a pure cushioning shoe like the KAYANO line.

How it fits

We stock it in whole UK sizes 3–12 across nine colourways, from blacked-out to the loud blue-and-lime.

How to wear it

The Omni 9's proportions sit between the slim GEL-1130 and the chunky KAYANO 14, which makes it one of the easiest retros to style:

Looking after them

The mesh-and-synthetic upper cleans up easily with a soft brush and lukewarm soapy water — our full routine is in how to clean retro runners. A protector spray in winter keeps the mesh fresh for months.
